The network has announced the first batch of presenters for the annual event, which serves as an unofficial kickoff for summer blockbuster season. Among the stars who will dole out trophies are Steve Carell, Melissa McCarthy, Zac Efron, Kerry Washington, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Amanda Seyfried, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler and Star Trek: Into Darkness’ Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto.
Wilson will serve as host of the festivities, which will air live on the East Coast at 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 via MTV. The broadcast will be tape-delayed for the West Coast.
The star of the upcoming “The Heat” will receive the award at the April convention.
Melissa McCarthy, the Oscar-nominated star of Bridesmaids and the recent Identity Thief, will be honored with the “CinemaCon Female Star of the Year Award” at this year’s convention.
“With an incredible comedic timing that has had audiences around the world falling out of their seats laughing, Melissa McCarthy has proven to be the new queen of comedy,” said CinemaCon’s Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser, who announced the award Wednesday. “We could not be more thrilled to be able to honor her as this year’s ‘CinemaCon Female Star of the Year.’”
CBS has renewed the bulk of its primetime lineup, announcing the pickups of four comedies, nine dramas, three reality shows and two newsmagazines.
The comedy renewals include 2 Broke Girls and Mike and Molly, which join the previously picked up half-hours How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory.
Then “The Heat” will be on. “Bridesmaids” all-stars Melissa McCarthy and director Paul Feig will present a clip on their latest collaboration, which also stars Sandra Bullock. The two actresses play two unlikely law enforcement partners who have to team up to bring down a notorious drug lord.
